Scott Eastwood is not ready to call time on Clint Eastwood’s legendary career.

The actor says he has seen reports suggesting his father has retired from filmmaking, but he is not fully buying it yet. Clint, 96, has been one of Hollywood’s most durable stars and directors for decades, and Scott says he has not heard a final goodbye from him personally.

“We’ll see,” Scott told ScreenRant. “I haven’t heard anything like that from him personally.”

Scott Eastwood Questions Retirement Talk

Scott, 40, said he is unsure what to make of the retirement chatter.

“So I’m not sure what to make of it,” he said.

He also praised his father’s extraordinary body of work, which stretches across acting, directing, producing, writing and composing.

“His career has been nothing short of remarkable,” Scott said. “It’s been a constant source of inspiration for me.”

Clint first broke through on TV’s ‘Rawhide’ before becoming a movie icon through Sergio Leone’s Dollars trilogy, including ‘The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.’

He later became one of Hollywood’s most respected directors with films including ‘Play Misty for Me,’ ‘Unforgiven,’ ‘Million Dollar Baby,’ ‘American Sniper’ and ‘The Mule.’

Kyle Eastwood Previously Said Clint Retired

The retirement talk gained traction after Clint’s son Kyle Eastwood, a jazz musician who has worked on several of his father’s films, told an audience that Clint had retired.

“He’s retired now at 95,” Kyle said during a November performance.

Scott, however, seems to be taking a wait-and-see approach.

That makes sense with Clint. The man has built a career on doing things his own way, often quietly and without much public explaining.

Clint Eastwood’s Work Ethic Remains Famous

Clint has long been known for fast, efficient productions. His calm, no-nonsense directing style has earned praise from actors who worked with him.

Richard Harris once praised the organization of ‘Unforgiven,’ while Hilary Swank credited Clint with making sets feel relaxed during ‘Million Dollar Baby.’

Scott has also worked with his father on projects including ‘Flags of Our Fathers,’ ‘Invictus’ and ‘Trouble with the Curve.’

Clint’s most recent directorial effort was the 2024 legal thriller ‘Juror No. 2,’ starring Nicholas Hoult, Toni Collette and Zoey Deutch. His last onscreen role came in the 2021 Western drama ‘Cry Macho.’

So, is Clint Eastwood really done? Kyle says yes. Scott is not so sure.

Until Clint says it himself, the final scene may not be written yet.
