Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s winery war just took another sharp turn.

Jolie has scored a courtroom win in the former couple’s bitter legal fight over Château Miraval, the French estate and winery they once owned together. According to court proceedings, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge ruled that Pitt could not force Jolie to hand over private emails tied to the years-long dispute.

The decision gives Jolie a key victory in one of Hollywood’s ugliest post-divorce business battles.

Angelina Jolie Blocks Private Emails From Brad Pitt

The latest ruling centered on 22 communications Jolie argued were protected by attorney-client privilege. Pitt’s legal team had been trying to obtain the messages as part of the ongoing fight over Jolie’s 2021 sale of her stake in Château Miraval to Tenute del Mondo, the wine division of Stoli Group.

Judge Lia Martin reportedly sided with Jolie, finding that Pitt “had not met his burden” to override privilege protections.

That does not mean the issue is gone forever. The court reportedly left open the possibility that Pitt could raise the matter again later as discovery continues.

Still, for now, Jolie has blocked Pitt from accessing the disputed emails.

The $184M Miraval War Keeps Getting Nastier

Pitt sued Jolie in 2022, accusing her of secretly selling her ownership interest in Château Miraval without his approval. Pitt has claimed they had an agreement that neither would sell their stake without the other’s consent.

Jolie has denied that such an agreement existed.

She has also accused Pitt of using confidentiality agreements and broad legal demands to silence her on issues connected to their split.

The legal fight has grown far beyond a simple property dispute. It now involves ownership rights, business communications, financial interests, privilege claims, and sealed filings tied to the French wine estate.

Pitt’s team had reportedly first sought more than 100 communications before narrowing the request to the 22 emails at the center of this discovery fight.

Jolie Wins The Email Fight, But Not Everything

Jolie did not get a total sweep.

While the judge ruled in her favor on the disputed communications, reports say the court denied her request for more than $33,000 in sanctions against Pitt. The judge reportedly found Pitt’s legal arguments were not entirely without merit, even though he lost this round.

That detail matters. Jolie got the bigger win, but the court did not treat Pitt’s request as baseless.

The Miraval battle remains active, and both sides are still fighting through discovery. For now, though, Jolie has kept a batch of private legal communications out of Pitt’s hands, adding another tense chapter to a case that shows no real sign of cooling down.
