Helen Mirren is making one thing clear: she still has Tom Hardy’s back.

The Oscar-winning actress addressed recent reports about Hardy’s future on the Paramount+ thriller ‘MobLand,’ after claims surfaced that the actor had clashed with production and might not return for a third season.

Mirren, 80, did not sound remotely interested in distancing herself from her co-star.

Helen Mirren Defends Tom Hardy

When asked whether she would work with Hardy again, Mirren gave Variety a very direct answer.

“In a heartbeat,” she said.

Mirren called Hardy “the most amazing actor” and added, “I love Tom.”

The two British stars have appeared together on the last two seasons of ‘MobLand,’ which also stars Pierce Brosnan.

Mirren said different actors work in different ways, and she has learned to respect that over time.

“Actors have diverse methods,” she said.

Mirren Says Her Support Is Genuine

Mirren explained that some performers arrive at a scene faster than others. For her, the result matters most.

“As long as the on-screen result is stellar, I’m completely at ease with whatever process someone uses,” she said.

She described Hardy as an exceptional person and praised his talent without hesitation.

“Tom is an exceptional individual,” Mirren said. “I find him absolutely extraordinary.”

She also made clear that her support was not just polite industry talk.

“My support for him comes from a place of sincerity and genuine affection,” she said.

Hardy’s ‘MobLand’ Future Remains Unclear

The comments come after reports claimed Hardy had tension with showrunner Jez Butterworth during production on season 2.

Some reports suggested Hardy would not return if ‘MobLand’ landed a third season. Others later clarified that he had not been fired and that talks about his possible return were still ongoing.

A production source reportedly said, “Tom wasn’t fired. The door remains open for season 3, and creative discussions are in progress.”

Mirren had already shown public support for Hardy in May, posting a photo of him on Instagram with the message, “Love you now and always.”

So, whatever is happening behind the scenes, Mirren is not playing coy. If Hardy returns to ‘MobLand,’ she sounds more than ready to share the screen with him again.
