Millie Bobby Brown is not here for the criticism aimed at her husband, Jake Bongiovi.
The ‘Stranger Things’ star recently addressed social media backlash after paparazzi photos showed her carrying luggage and pushing a stroller while Bongiovi walked nearby. Some online commenters quickly accused him of not helping.
Brown says those critics completely missed the point.
Millie Bobby Brown Defends Jake Bongiovi
Appearing on the ‘Not Gonna Lie’ podcast, Brown questioned why some people assume women need constant assistance.
“When did women become incapable of handling their own bags, car seats, and other stuff?” she asked.
The actress made it clear she is fully capable of managing those tasks herself.
“I’m perfectly capable of managing on my own,” Brown said.
She also pushed back against the criticism directed at her husband.
“People are saying, ‘Your husband doesn’t carry anything,'” Brown explained. “That’s because I’m way ahead of him. I’ve been planning this all night.”
Brown Calls Out The Double Standard
Brown said she finds the criticism contradictory.
“We preach about empowering women,” she said.
According to Brown, people often celebrate independence until they actually see a woman handling things herself.
“But the moment I say, ‘Okay, I can handle my own things,’ people ask, ‘Where’s your husband?'” she added.
The actress described Bongiovi as supportive and respectful.
“He’s the most polite, sweet, would-do-anything-for-me partner,” Brown said.
She added that one of the reasons their relationship works is because he understands she is capable on her own.
Opening Up About Young Motherhood
Brown also addressed criticism she has received for becoming a mother at a young age.
The actress said she has no regrets and described the experience in glowing terms.
“I’m having an incredible experience,” she shared.
Brown said parenthood has transformed her perspective on life.
“My husband and I often say it’s like going from seeing in black and white to seeing in color,” she said.
The couple announced last year that they had adopted a daughter and were excited to begin their parenting journey privately.
Brown and Bongiovi first confirmed their relationship in 2021 and married in 2024. Since then, they have largely kept their personal life out of the spotlight.
But when it comes to defending her husband, Brown clearly has no problem speaking up.
