Sydney Sweeney is finally addressing the ‘Euphoria’ feud rumors, and she sounds pretty stunned by the whole thing.

The actress spoke out in a Vanity Fair interview published June 9, shutting down speculation that she and Zendaya had tension behind the scenes. The rumors had been building for months, especially after Zendaya’s quick appearance at the L.A. premiere and Sweeney’s social media tribute that did not include her co-star.

For Sweeney, the online read was way off.

Sydney Sweeney Shuts Down Zendaya Rumors

Sweeney called the feud speculation “crazy” and said it showed how quickly social media can twist a story.

“It’s honestly crazy to watch how much social media and the press spin things,” she said.

The ‘Euphoria’ star said the cast remains close after years of growing up together on the HBO series. That bond, she suggested, is much stronger than the rumor cycle wants to admit.

Season 3 only added fuel because Sweeney’s Cassie and Zendaya’s Rue barely crossed paths. Rue appeared at Cassie’s wedding, then left quickly after the ceremony. The two actresses did not share scenes during the final season.

Separate Storylines Fueled The Chatter

Fans took the lack of shared scenes as a clue. Sweeney says it was simply the story.

She also rejected claims that the cast’s busy movie careers delayed production of the final season.

“I was in first position to HBO,” Sweeney explained. “So the moment they say, ‘Hey, this is the first day of filming,’ I’m legally not allowed to do anything else.”

She said the main cast had the same obligations, meaning the show’s schedule came first.

Cast Stayed Close Behind The Scenes

Even with separate storylines, Sweeney said the cast stayed connected on set.

“Every single time we were in the trailer, we were like, ‘Wait, what are you doing today?'” she said.

The actors only received scripts for their own scenes, so they had to piece together the larger story between takes. That made the behind-the-scenes conversations even more important.

So, was there real drama? Sweeney says no. According to her, the cast was working, guessing, laughing and trying to understand the ending just like everyone else.

The internet may want a Zendaya feud. Sweeney is saying there is nothing there.
