Dean Cain is catching heat after taking a jab at the new ‘Supergirl’ star Milly Alcock.
The former ‘Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman’ actor, 59, stirred backlash on X after weighing in on the newly released poster for the upcoming DC Universe film. Cain first amplified a post questioning how Supergirl could have pierced ears if her skin is bulletproof.
Then the conversation got uglier.
Dean Cain Faces Backlash Over Supergirl Comment
Cain responded to a post that mocked Alcock’s appearance by comparing her to a character from the 1970s series ‘Land of the Lost.’
“Dang it… I laughed,” Cain wrote, adding a nervous emoji.
That was enough to set off fans and critics. Many accused Cain of being mean-spirited toward Alcock, who is 26 and leading the new ‘Supergirl’ movie.
One critic called him “shallow and cruel.” Another branded him a “Temu Superman,” a jab that quickly spread in replies.
Others pointed to the age gap and said Cain should know better than to join online mockery of a younger actress stepping into a major superhero role.

Milly Alcock Has Already Addressed Online Critics
Alcock has already faced backlash from some corners of the internet over the female-led DC film. She also appears fully aware of the type of criticism coming her way.
In a recent Variety interview, the actress joked about noticing that much of the negativity comes from burner accounts or profiles with bios like “Dad of four, Christian.”
“If you’re pissing the right kind of people off, you’re doing OK,” Alcock said.
That comment only added more fuel to the online argument. For supporters, it made her look confident. For critics, it gave them another reason to keep posting.
Supergirl Controversy Keeps Growing
The new ‘Supergirl’ film has already become a culture-war target before its release. Alcock, best known for ‘House of the Dragon,’ is stepping into one of DC’s most recognizable roles at a time when every superhero casting choice gets picked apart online.
Cain, meanwhile, remains closely tied to Superman history because of his 1990s TV run. That made his criticism land even harder for some fans.
For now, Alcock does not seem rattled. And judging by the backlash Cain received, plenty of viewers are ready to defend the new Supergirl before she even takes flight.
