Russell Brand’s religious awakening ran into a very uncomfortable live-interview moment.

The 50-year-old actor and former comedian appeared on ‘Piers Morgan Uncensored’ on April 24, where Morgan pressed him about the Bible he had taken into court. Brand’s trial has reportedly been delayed until October. He has pleaded not guilty and denies all charges.

Morgan asked, “Can I go back to asking a question about your Bible?” Brand replied, “Yes, if you want to. Thank you.” Then Morgan got specific. He asked whether it was the same Bible brand that he had taken into court and why he had brought it with him. “What was your thinking of taking it into court?” Morgan asked. “And what you were seeing, looking at some passages, what were the relevant passages for you?” That is when things got awkward fast.

Brand Struggled To Find The Bible Verse

Brand began flipping through the pages, saying the passage was from Isaiah. “It was this from Isaiah,” he said, before realizing he had not found the right verse.

He kept searching. The studio went quiet. Morgan did not rescue the moment.

Brand then tried again, saying, “This is from Isaiah,” before pausing and continuing to scan the pages.

After more silence, he admitted defeat. “The verse that I was looking at that day was not this,” Brand said. “I can’t actually find the verse that I had that day. But this is good enough. This is from Isaiah 12.”

For viewers, the moment was painful to watch. Brand has publicly discussed his Christian faith in recent years and has just released a new book, ‘How to Become a Christian in 7 Days,’ so the Bible question was always likely to come up.

Viewers Mocked Morgan’s Reaction

The internet quickly focused on Morgan’s face during the silence.

One viewer wrote on X, formerly Twitter, “Piers’ expression says it all.” Another posted, “Cameraman was absolute legend for the split screen.” A third joked, “Brand definitely Trump’d that up!”

The exchange spread because it had the exact ingredients social media grabs fast: a serious interview, a visibly tense guest, a host letting the silence hang and a religious answer that did not quite arrive on cue.

Brand Also Addressed Prison

During the same interview, Brand spoke about the possibility of prison. “I will be with God wherever I am,” he said.

The ‘Get Him to the Greek’ star has been accused of three counts of rape, three charges of sexual assault and one allegation of indecent assault. Six women have alleged crimes dating from 1999 to 2009. Brand has denied all charges.

For now, his legal case remains the bigger story. The Bible moment, though, gave viewers a strange and uncomfortable clip that traveled fast online.
