Meghan Markle Says No to Big Memoir Offer and Deepens Mystery Around Royal Ties

Meghan Markle is reportedly leaving a huge pile of money on the table, and the reason is raising eyebrows.

The Duchess of Sussex has been linked to what insiders describe as a highly lucrative memoir opportunity, but current reporting says she is not ready to cash in by reopening old royal wounds. That is a striking move in itself, especially after Prince Harry’s ‘Spare’ became a global publishing hit and proved there is still enormous appetite for insider royal fallout. Meghan has spoken before about the idea of a memoir, but she suggested in 2025 that she feels she has “a lot more life to live” before taking that route.

That makes the question obvious. Why turn down a likely bestseller when the market is clearly there?

Meghan Is Reportedly Choosing Caution Over a Giant Payday

According to the report, Meghan has received interest in telling her story in book form, including her life before the monarchy, her years inside the royal machine, and the California chapter that followed. But she is said to be resisting the idea, even with major money involved, because a tell-all would drag her right back into the same cycle of royal drama and public scrutiny she has been trying to move past. That hesitation lines up with how Meghan has talked publicly about storytelling in recent years. When asked about a memoir in 2025, she did not rule it out forever, but she made clear it is not where her head is right now.

Meghan Seems More Focused on Lifestyle, Brand Power, and Control

Instead of going full confessional, Meghan has spent the past year leaning further into lifestyle content and brand-building. Her Netflix series ‘With Love, Meghan’ became central to that softer image reset, and her consumer brand ‘As ever’ has expanded around it with food, candles, wine, and other home-focused products. Different sources also reported earlier this year that while there are no current plans for a third season of ‘With Love, Meghan’, Meghan has remained closely tied to that lifestyle direction and has even signed a new first-look arrangement with Netflix through Archewell Productions.

That is why the memoir hesitation does not feel random. It feels strategic. Meghan appears to be trying to keep control of her image by choosing projects that are polished, selective, and less explosive than another royal tell-all. Even Vogue’s take on ‘With Love, Meghan’ noted that the series was deliberately close-up without becoming truly personal, which fits the broader pattern.

For now, then, Meghan seems to be making a very un-royal decision in the most royal way possible: by saying no to the louder option and keeping people guessing. The memoir may still come one day. And when the time for it comes, she will do it on her terms, and not because the market is waving a giant check.
