Rebecca King-Crews turned a deeply private health battle into a public moment on ‘Today’, and it left Terry Crews visibly emotional beside her.
Appearing with her husband, Rebecca revealed that she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease back in 2015. The announcement came as she opened up about a recent procedure that is already helping ease some of her symptoms, giving the couple a reason for hope after years of quietly dealing with the disease behind the scenes.
For Terry, it was clearly more than just another interview. Sitting beside his wife, he looked like a man watching someone he loves finally get a small piece of relief after a very long fight.
Rebecca King-Crews Reveals Private Parkinson’s Battle
Rebecca, 60, shared that although the diagnosis is new to the public, it has been part of her life for more than a decade. She said she chose to speak out now because she recently underwent treatment that has already started improving movement on one side of her body.
“I’m seeing improvement,” she said. “I’m able to write my name, my dates.”
Then came what really captured the weight of the moment. “I’m able to write with my right hand for the first time in probably three years,” she said.
Rebecca explained that she is still recovering and expects that process to continue for another three months. She also revealed that another procedure is planned for September, this time to help with symptoms on the other side of her body.
The ‘Today’ segment also showed clips of Rebecca off her medication before the procedure, giving viewers a raw look at the physical toll Parkinson’s has taken. It was difficult to watch, and that seemed to be the point. This is not a struggle happening in the abstract. It is daily, visible, and exhausting.
Terry Crews Gets Choked Up Watching Her Improve
Terry did not try to hide how hard the last decade has been. He called Rebecca a “superhero” and the “rock” of their family, even as she has dealt with tremors, sleep issues, and loss of balance. The couple shares five children, and his words made clear just how much she has continued to carry while managing her condition. “Watch[ing] her go through what she [went] through the last 10 to 12 years has been very, very hard,” Terry said.
He then described what it meant to see her doing something as simple, and as huge, as writing again. “But to watch her write her name for the first time in three years, let me tell you,” he said. Then he cracked. “I don’t know what to say, I’m choked up just thinking about it.”
She Has Already Faced More Than Most
Rebecca’s Parkinson’s diagnosis is not the only serious health battle she has fought. She also beat stage 1 breast cancer in 2020, adding another difficult chapter to a stretch of years already shaped by medical challenges.
That history makes this new phase feel even more emotional. Rebecca is not just speaking about a diagnosis. She is showing what endurance looks like after years of being tested again and again.
The moment on ‘Today’ was bittersweet for exactly that reason. There was pain in what Rebecca revealed, but there was also visible hope. Not a miracle, not a neat ending, but real progress. And sometimes that is more powerful anyway.
