Offset is in the hospital after a shooting outside a Florida casino, and the fallout is already pulling in other big rap names.
The former Migos star, 34, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, was shot outside Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood on Monday night, according to police and a spokesperson for the rapper. Authorities said the incident happened in a valet area after 7 p.m. local time and left one person with non-life-threatening injuries. Offset’s spokesperson later said he is in “stable” condition and being “closely monitored” in the hospital.
That update brought some relief. The bigger picture still feels tense.
What Police Say Happened Outside the Casino
The Seminole Police Department said two people have been detained in connection with the incident, and the investigation is still active. Police also said they are working to identify “one or more additional persons” who may have been involved.
One of the people detained was rapper Lil Tjay, whose real name is Tione Jayden Merritt. He has been charged with disorderly conduct.
Police said an incident took place “at a valet area” outside Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood and “resulted in non-life threatening injuries to an individual.” A spokesperson added that the investigation “is ongoing,” with efforts underway to identify other possible suspects.
At this point, officials have not publicly laid out a full timeline of what led to the gunfire. That leaves a lot of questions hanging, especially with two high-profile artists now tied to the same scene.

Why the News Hits Hard for Offset Fans
Offset is best known as one-third of Migos, the hugely successful rap trio he formed with Quavo and Takeoff. The group first blew up with ‘Versace’ in 2013, then reached another level in 2017 when ‘Bad and Boujee‘ hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Migos became one of the defining rap acts of the 2010s, helping shape the sound and style of the era. By early 2022, the group had split, with Quavo and Takeoff moving forward as Unc & Phew while Offset focused on his solo career.
Then came the tragedy fans still have not fully shaken. In November 2022, Takeoff was shot and killed at a bowling alley in Houston, Texas. His record label said at the time, “Senseless violence and a stray bullet has taken another life from this world and we are devastated.”
That history makes this latest shooting hit differently. Offset has already lived through one nightmare tied to gun violence in his inner circle. Now fans are again waiting for updates and hoping this story does not get any darker.
Offset was also married to Cardi B after the pair wed in 2017. They share three children and later separated, with a divorce filing in 2024.
