Lady Gaga pulled the plug on her final Montreal show just hours before she was due to hit the stage, telling fans a respiratory infection had gotten bad enough that her doctor told her not to perform.

The pop star shared the news Monday in an Instagram Story, saying she had been trying to rest and recover for days but had reached a point where she could not give fans the kind of show they paid for. For an artist who usually powers through, the cancellation hit harder for fans.

“I’m so sorry to share that I’m unable to perform tonight and have to cancel the show,” Gaga wrote. “I’ve been fighting a respiratory infection for the past few days and doing everything I can to rest and recover. But it’s gotten worse.”

Lady Gaga Says She Could Not Give Fans the Show They Deserve

Gaga was set to play her third and final ‘Mayhem Ball’ date at Montreal’s Bell Centre on April 6. She had already performed there on April 2 and April 3, and in her message she made clear that those earlier nights only made this cancellation feel worse.

“My doctor has strongly advised me not to perform today and to be honest I don’t think I could give you the quality of a performance today that you deserve,” she wrote. “I know how deeply disappointing this is, and I truly could not feel worse about letting you down.”

She also gave Montreal fans a direct thank-you, writing, “Being in Montreal and performing for you on Thursday and Friday was magical and deeply meaningful.” Then came the line that probably stung most for people already on their way to the arena. “To everyone who was coming tonight, I’m absolutely heartbroken and so sorry.”

Her Tour Is Nearly Over, but Questions Now Follow the Final Dates

At the moment, there is no confirmed rescheduled date for the Montreal show. That leaves fans watching closely to see whether the final stretch of the tour goes ahead as planned.

According to Gaga’s official live schedule, the remaining dates currently listed are April 9 and April 10 in Saint Paul, Minnesota, followed by an April 13 show at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Ticketing pages also still list those performances.

That makes this cancellation feel like more than a one-night disappointment. It drops right at the end of a long run, when fans are already wondering how much gas any artist has left in the tank. Gaga has described the ‘Mayhem Ball’ as a more controlled, theatrical arena show built to bring her ‘Mayhem’ era to life in a very specific way. For now, fans will be watching to see whether she is well enough to finish it the way she planned.
