Kim Kardashian and her mother Kris Jenner are pushing back strongly against allegations from singer Ray J that they orchestrated the release of Kardashian’s infamous 2007 video.

The dispute has escalated into a legal battle after Kardashian and Jenner filed a defamation lawsuit in October against Ray J, whose legal name is William Ray Norwood Jr.

The lawsuit came after Ray J publicly claimed that the reality TV star and her mother were involved in a coordinated plan to leak the tape, allegations the pair say are completely false.

Ray J later responded by filing a countersuit the following month, doubling down on his claims and alleging Kardashian and Jenner were the ones responsible for releasing the footage.

In a declaration submitted this week to Los Angeles Superior Court, Kardashian firmly rejected the accusations.

“Ray J’s allegation that I conspired with my mother and others to release a tape, deceive the public and file a ‘fake’ lawsuit against the porn company that distributed it to generate buzz is entirely false,” Kardashian said in the filing, according to court documents obtained by Page Six.

Kris Jenner also submitted her own statement, describing the allegations as deeply painful and damaging.

“As a mother, the suggestion that I orchestrated or produced these tapes involving my daughter or had any role in their creation or distribution is not only completely untrue but deeply offensive,” Jenner said.

She added that the scandal has been emotionally difficult for her family.

“I was utterly heartbroken, shattered and devastated to see my daughter in a situation where her most private moments were exposed to the world,” Jenner said.

Ray J, however, has continued to dispute their claims.

Speaking to TMZ, the singer said Kardashian and Jenner were not telling the truth in their court filings and alleged that discussions took place involving executives from Vivid Entertainment, the company that ultimately distributed the tape.

Representatives for Vivid Entertainment have consistently maintained that the company acquired the video from a third party and did not receive it directly from Kardashian or Jenner.

The legal dispute now places renewed attention on the decades-old controversy that helped propel Kardashian into the public spotlight and ultimately led to the launch of her family’s reality television empire.

The court has not yet ruled on the competing claims.
