Terrence Howard says there was once a chance he could have dated Beyoncé.
During a recent appearance on the PBD Podcast, the 57-year-old actor claimed he had the opportunity to pursue a relationship with the future global superstar early in her career.
“I had a chance to date Beyoncé early on,” Howard said during the interview while discussing famous celebrity couples.
According to Howard, the conversation eventually shifted when he became interested in another member of Destiny’s Child.
“We had a conversation, and I ended up talking to another girl in Destiny’s Child. The one with the blue eyes,” he said, though he did not identify which member he meant.
Destiny’s Child originally rose to fame in the late 1990s with Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson as members before several lineup changes over the years.
Howard also recalled sharing a moment with Beyoncé during the 2005 BET Awards.
During a performance of Destiny’s Child’s song “Cater 2 U,” the group brought three men from the audience onto the stage. Beyoncé selected Howard, while Kelly Rowland chose Nelly and Michelle Williams brought up Magic Johnson.
Howard said he remembered Beyoncé looking at him during the performance and felt there was a playful moment between them.
Still, the actor stressed the story dates back many years, long before Beyoncé’s relationship with Jay-Z.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z married in 2008 and have three children together: Blue Ivy and twins Rumi and Sir.
Howard, meanwhile, has been married four times and is the father of five children.
