Newly unsealed court documents have revealed that singer D4vd has been identified as a “target” in the investigation into the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. While the designation signals serious scrutiny from investigators, authorities have not filed any criminal charges against the artist as the probe continues.

The documents, filed in Texas and recently made public, describe David Burke—known professionally as D4vd—as a person investigators believe may have information related to the case. Under legal terminology, being named a “target” means authorities consider someone a potential suspect, though it does not mean charges have been formally brought.

According to reports citing court filings, investigators are examining Burke’s possible connection to the death after Celeste’s remains were allegedly discovered in a vehicle associated with him. Authorities reportedly found decomposing body parts inside the front storage compartment of a Tesla that had been parked at a Hollywood-area tow lot.

Despite the disturbing discovery described in the documents, prosecutors have not publicly accused Burke of the crime. Law enforcement officials say the investigation is ongoing and that the “target” designation allows investigators to pursue additional evidence and witness testimony while building the case.

Court records also show that prosecutors have requested testimony from members of Burke’s family, including his parents and brother, before a Los Angeles grand jury. Attorneys representing the family are reportedly challenging the request, arguing it could raise legal concerns related to due process.

The case itself stretches back to April 2024, when Celeste Rivas Hernandez was first reported missing. Months later, authorities confirmed that human remains discovered in 2025 had been identified as the missing teenager. Her family later held a private funeral after the identification was made.

Since then, the investigation has remained largely quiet, with officials releasing limited information about potential suspects or the timeline leading up to Celeste’s death. The newly unsealed documents now provide the clearest indication yet that investigators are focusing attention on Burke as the inquiry develops.

For now, prosecutors have not indicated whether charges will be filed. Authorities say the investigation remains active as they continue gathering evidence and preparing potential testimony, leaving the next steps in the case uncertain.
