Savannah Guthrie briefly returned to the Today studio recently as she continues to deal with a difficult family situation.

According to NBC, the longtime anchor stopped by the studio on March 5, marking her first visit since news emerged earlier this year that her mother, Nancy Guthrie, had gone missing. The visit was not an on-air appearance but rather a chance to see colleagues and thank them for their support.

A spokesperson for the morning show told People that Guthrie plans to return to the program once she feels ready.

“She intends to return to the show on air,” the representative said, noting that no date has been set yet as her focus remains on her family and the ongoing search for her mother.

Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen on Jan. 31 after having dinner with family members. Concern grew when she did not attend a virtual church service the following day, prompting relatives to file a missing person report.

Investigators later reviewed footage from a doorbell camera at her Tucson home that reportedly shows a masked person approaching the house the night she disappeared.

The case is being investigated by the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities say the investigation remains active as detectives continue to pursue leads.

In the meantime, Guthrie has been spending time with family members. On March 2, she traveled to Tucson and visited her mother’s home with her sister Annie Guthrie and brother-in-law Tommaso Cioni.

She has also thanked supporters for the messages and prayers her family has received.

“The love and prayers from our neighbors, the Tucson community and people across the country have been overwhelming,” Guthrie wrote in a message shared publicly. “Please continue to pray and hope with us. Help bring her home.”
