Luke Combs is opening up about his health—and drawing a firm line in the sand when it comes to weight-loss drugs.
During a candid appearance on The New York Times’ Popcast podcast, the country superstar admitted he’s spent years trying to “crack the code” on weight management. While medications like Ozempic and Mounjaro have surged in popularity, Combs made it clear he’s hesitant to go that route.
“Call me crazy, but those drugs frighten me more than I think I’d appreciate their benefits,” the 35-year-old said, explaining that he wants to tackle the challenge on his own terms. For Combs, the struggle itself matters. “I don’t want an easy life where everything’s handed to me. I thrive on challenges,” he added.
The “Hurricane” singer also revealed that early in his career, he worried his appearance could hold him back. He said some industry figures suggested he trim his beard or hire a personal trainer to fit a more conventional image. “One of my biggest concerns was that I might not get a fair shot just because of how I look,” he shared.
Now a father of three and one of country music’s biggest names, Combs seems determined to approach his health journey his own way—no shortcuts. Meanwhile, fans are gearing up for his sixth studio album, The Way I Am, arriving March 20.
