Michael Douglas is ready to rip the curtain back — and he’s not sugarcoating a thing.
The two-time Oscar winner announced he’s officially writing a tell-all memoir, declaring, “It’s time to tell my story,” after decades in the spotlight as both Hollywood royalty and one of its most complicated leading men.
“There’s a lot to tell before I forget,” Douglas shared on Instagram, revealing he’s teaming up with veteran journalist Mike Fleming Jr. for the project. “I’ve lived a life in the public eye while maintaining a private core — and there’s a distinction there.”
The yet-untitled memoir, set for release on October 6, 2026 through Grand Central Publishing, promises what Douglas calls “the real deal” — not a glossy career recap, but a deeply personal account of his origins, struggles, and defining choices.
And there’s plenty to unpack.
The 81-year-old icon will reportedly dive into growing up as the son of screen legend Kirk Douglas and actress Diana Dill, carving out his own legacy in films like Romancing the Stone, Fatal Attraction, Wall Street, and Basic Instinct — and the intense pressure that came with it.
But it won’t stop at the red carpets.
Douglas is expected to confront his early ’90s substance abuse battles, his 2010 tongue cancer diagnosis, and the fallout from his first marriage to Diandra Luker, with whom he shares son Cameron Douglas. He’ll also reflect on his long marriage to Catherine Zeta-Jones and raising their children, Dylan and Carys, largely out of the public glare.
“Fame can distort reality,” Douglas said. “This is my attempt to bring it back into focus.”
Pre-orders are already live — and if Douglas delivers on his promise of brutal honesty, Hollywood may want to brace itself.
