Taylor Momsen has made it clear she’s done with acting and she doesn’t sound conflicted about it at all. In a recent interview with People, the former Gossip Girl star shut down long-running speculation about a possible return to Hollywood, saying acting is no longer something she wants in her life.

Momsen, now 32, rose to fame at a young age after playing Cindy Lou Who in How the Grinch Stole Christmas, followed by her breakout role as Jenny Humphrey on Gossip Girl. But despite her early success on screen, she says that chapter is firmly closed. When asked if she would ever consider acting again, her response was blunt: no. While she acknowledged that life can be unpredictable, she stressed that acting simply isn’t a priority for her anymore.

Music, on the other hand, is where her heart is. As the frontwoman of the rock band The Pretty Reckless, Momsen says she’s genuinely happy and fulfilled, focusing her energy on songwriting, recording, and touring. She even joked about the idea of reboots or revivals, brushing off any chance of returning to past roles and pointing instead to her plans to tour with AC/DC.

Momsen explained that acting always felt like something tied to her childhood, while music has been a personal pursuit she chose for herself. Unlike acting, she says music doesn’t require stepping into a character or following someone else’s vision. For her, it’s about creative control and authenticity.

She also spoke candidly about independence, saying she has no interest in being used or managed as someone else’s project. Writing her own songs and shaping her own career has given her a sense of freedom she values deeply. For Momsen, being in charge of her work, and her voice, is everything.
