Actor Kang Ha Neul opened up about his struggle with claustrophobia on the latest episode of Whenever Possible. The Tuesday broadcast of SBS’s variety show Whenever Possible featured Kang Ha Neul and Seo Hyun Woo as special gap friends.

During the episode, Kang Ha Neul reminisced about working with Yoo Yeon Seok on the drama Tastefully Yours, mentioning Yoo Yeon Seok’s special appearance.

Yoo Yeon Seok chimed in, saying that it was supposed to be a special appearance, but he ended up appearing in quite a few episodes, noting that the director is actually his college alumnus. This prompted Yoo Jae Suk to quip that it looks like Yoo Yeon Seok has connections everywhere, eliciting laughter from the group.

Kang Ha Neul and Seo Hyun Woo also took the opportunity to promote their upcoming Netflix film Wall To Wall, set to premiere this Friday. The thriller follows Woosung (played by Kang Ha Neul), a young professional who finally buys his own apartment, only to be tormented by mysterious noises emanating from the upstairs apartment.

Seo Hyun Woo expressed his excitement about the film, saying that he can’t wait to see how it turned out. Kang Ha Neul added that it’s tough to watch before the press screening. Yoo Jae Suk related to their experience, noting that they usually catch the early access or live broadcast too.

After completing their first gap mission, the four took a moment to bask in their accomplishment.

As they moved on to lunch, Kang Ha Neul revealed his laid-back approach to food delivery. He said that he’s a spontaneous type, so he opens the app and orders whatever’s at the top, noting that searching takes too much effort. In contrast, Seo Hyun Woo admitted to being meticulous, stating that he reads every review and examines all the photos before placing an order.

During the meal, Seo Hyun Woo surprised everyone with an unexpected revelation about his academic journey. He shared that he initially majored in English Literature but dropped out after a year. He then rushed to prepare for the practical exam to gain admission to the Korea National University of Arts, as it does not require the usual college entrance exam. Yoo Jae Suk praised Seo Hyun Woo’s versatility, while Yoo Yeon Seok humorously noted that his glasses give off a different vibe than Yoo Jae Suk’s.

The conversation took a more serious turn when Kang Ha Neul opened up about his claustrophobia. He confessed that it’s so severe that he can no longer ride crowded buses. He takes the subway more often, but if it gets too packed, he’ll get off and wait for the next one. Even during filming, he struggled with scenes in tow trucks as he had to lower the window after every cut.

When asked about acrophobia, Kang Ha Neul surprised everyone by saying that he has no fear of heights. He’s done all the famous bungee jumps in South Korea.

Whenever Possible is a variety show that aims to bring moments of joy to viewers during their daily downtime. It airs every Tuesday at 9:00 p.m. KST on SBS.
