The Nice Guy is an emotional noir series that follows the life of Park Seok Cheol, played by Lee Dong Wook. Park is the eldest grandson of a powerful crime family, but his tough exterior masks a sensitive and pure heart. As the story unfolds, he crosses paths with his first love, Kang Mi Young (played by Lee Sung Kyung), who dreams of becoming a singer. Together, they navigate a world of harsh realities and unfulfilled dreams, with their passionate love story at the heart of the drama. Directed by Song Hae Sung, whose previous work includes Maundy Thursday and Boomerang Family, The Nice Guy promises a nuanced and emotionally charged experience. Song is joined by Park Hong Soo, director of the critically acclaimed drama Lost, and writers Kim Woon Kyung, known for The Moon of Seoul, and Kim Hyo Seok, who worked on the film Yadang: The Snitch. Reflecting on the project, Lee Dong Wook expressed his excitement to work with the talented director and writers. “I’ve always wanted to collaborate with director Song Hae Sung and writer Kim Woon Kyung,” he shared. “I respect their long careers, and it was truly an honor to work alongside them.” He also noted that after exploring genre and fantasy roles in recent years, he was eager for a change of pace: “This drama allowed me to dive into a romance, and I’m really grateful for that.”
