So Ji Sub and Ok Taec Yeon recently proved their enduring global appeal, with a fan meeting that left audiences buzzing with excitement.
On May 25, the SONICe parTY fan meeting, marking the first-ever joint event between the two stars, was held at the Taipei International Convention Center (TICC). The event drew a huge crowd of excited fans eager to see their favorite Korean actors in person.
So Ji Sub kicked off the event with a special performance of “Can’t Smile Without You,” marking his return to Taiwan after six years. “It’s because of your love for What Happened in Bali that I started my first Asia tour fan meeting back in 2014, and this very place in Taipei was where it all began,” So Ji Sub told the crowd. “I’m deeply grateful for the warm welcome, both then and now.”
During the fan meeting, So Ji Sub also shared exclusive behind-the-scenes stories from his past projects and gave fans a sneak peek at the trailer for his upcoming Netflix series, Mercy for None, sparking even more excitement among the crowd.
Next up, Ok Taec Yeon took the stage and wowed fans with “Sunshine”, a song he wrote and composed himself specifically for the fan meeting. Taec Yeon performed the heartfelt track alongside So Ji Sub, creating an unforgettable moment for those in attendance.
“I’m so happy to be back in Taipei,” Taec Yeon said. “Taipei was the first stop on our 2023 Asia fan meeting tour specialTY, and it feels great to reconnect with you all here.” He also shared the inspiration behind Sunshine: “I wrote this song thinking of all the fans who look at us with warm, sunny smiles when we’re on stage.”
The fan meeting also featured a fun and interactive mini sports day segment, where fans had the chance to get closer to the stars by participating in various challenges. The excitement reached its peak as successful participants were rewarded with exclusive fragrances personally prepared by So Ji-Sub and Ok Taec Yeon. The emotional atmosphere continued to build as the duo performed “Time Walks”, a song first revealed at So Ji Sub’s fan meeting in Japan earlier this year.
The second half of the event was all about Ok Taec Yeon’s solo performance. He energized the crowd with a string of hits, including “So Wonderful” and “Yaritakunai,” before delivering a show-stopping performance of “Jumping Machine”, which had the audience roaring with excitement. Taec Yeon then treated fans to an energetic set that included “Toc Toc Toc,” “MBTI,” “Champagne,” and “Magic.”
So Ji Sub, who was recently appointed as an ambassador for the inaugural Korea Travel Expo (KTE), took a moment to express his gratitude. “Every time I visit Taiwan, I feel so much warmth from all of you. I leave with renewed energy and a full heart. I wish happiness and good fortune to you and your families,” he shared with the crowd. Ok Taec Yeon added, “Time flew by today. It was so much fun, and I promise to continue bringing you great projects and performances.”
