Kim Seon Ho Gets Candid About Acting, Identity, and That Viral Challenge

Actor Kim Seon Ho has graced the cover of Elle magazine’s August issue.

The photoshoot captured Kim Seon Ho’s carefree afternoon at a summer beach. Against the backdrop of a scorching summer landscape, he showcased a blend of gentle and wild charm, resulting in stunning images.

Following the shoot, an interview was conducted. When asked about his source of strength to endure the day’s heat, he replied, “It’s the ocean. Being near the sea always gives me a thrill. And it’s the people I work with. My colleagues came from far away to support me, and when they smile, it energizes me.”

Kim Seon Ho recently gained popularity for his role as Cheong Seop in the Netflix series When Life Gives You Tangerines, which sparked the “Kim Seon Ho Challenge.” He chuckled, “When I first heard the challenge was trending, I thought it was a joke. As an actor, it’s truly delightful and fun. These days, people at events ask me to recreate the wink scene, but I feel awkward and can’t do it properly, so I apologize.”

He continued, “Like Cheong Seop, I’m also from Bongcheon-dong, so the scenes in the show reminded me of my childhood. It brought back memories of my parents’ stories from that era, making it a significant and beautiful project for me.”

Regarding his upcoming Netflix original series, Can This Love Be Translated?, where he plays multilingual interpreter Joo Ho Jin, Kim Seon Ho shared, “The set was filled with laughter. I had great communication with actress Go Youn Jung, and we had a blast working together. I hope everyone looks forward to it.”

Reflecting on his decade-long career portraying positive characters, Kim Seon Ho said, “I once asked a senior actor what ‘good acting’ means. They replied that it’s about making more mature choices. When we present ourselves more maturely, that’s when we create good works and performances.” He added, “For an actor, it’s always important to understand who you are. I’m diligently going through that process. As a person, I want to be more like a friend and a comfortable presence to others.”
