In a recent behind-the-scenes feature, Yang Se Jong expressed his admiration for the strong chemistry among the cast of Disney+ Korea’s Low Life.

On Sunday, Disney+ Korea released a video titled “The Country Bumpkins’ Endless Battle of Wits | [Low Life] Commentary Part 2” on their YouTube channel. The clip offers candid insights from the show’s stars, Ryu Seung Ryong, Yang Se Jong, Im Soo Jung, and director Kang Yun Seong as they discuss the filming experience.

When asked about the cast’s dynamic, Yang Se Jong enthusiastically said, “It was absolutely phenomenal.” Ryu Seung Ryong, who plays Gwan Seok, added a humorous story: “Before our first script reading, we created a group chat. We shared makeup test photos, introduced ourselves, even posted our MBTI personality types, saying, ‘We’re all in this together, so let’s start bonding!’ But in reality, we mostly ended up sharing restaurant recommendations.” His comment brought laughs from everyone involved.

The video also spotlighted a scene between Hee Dong (played by Yang Se Jong) and Beol Gu (played by Jung Yun Ho). Ryu Seung Ryong noted that Jung Yun Ho, being a native of Gwangju, naturally shifts his voice when speaking in the regional dialect. Im Soo Jung praised Jung Yun Ho’s performance, saying, “He acted so well. I was truly surprised.” Kang Yun Seong agreed, adding, “He did an amazing job.”

Kang Yun Seong shared, “I was introduced to Jung Yun Ho through a recommendation. When I first met him, he had this slightly sinister vibe that I thought could be developed well. He naturally has a sharpness about him, so I was hopeful he’d bring something fresh to the role, and he did.”

Yang Se Jong described the relationship between Beol Gu and Hee Dong as like a stray dog and a wolf. Kang Yun Seong agreed, explaining, “That’s a perfect analogy. Beol Gu is powerful when he’s with his pack, like a stray dog, while Hee Dong is a lone fighter who always goes solo, making him more like a wolf.”

Low Life is set in 1977 and tells the story of hardworking, small-town villagers who become embroiled in a complex web of deception and rivalry as they compete to claim a treasure ship buried beneath the sea.
