‘Head over Heels’ Rises in Amazon Prime Rankings Across 35 Countries

tvN’s drama Head over Heels is gaining momentum in viewership.

Head over Heels is a youth romance drama that follows the story of Bae Gyeon Woo (Choo Young Woo), a boy destined to die, and Park Sung Ah (Cho Yi Hyun), a young shaman girl determined to prevent his fate. The show’s second episode, which aired on June 24, achieved a 4.4% viewership rating in South Korea, according to Nielsen Korea, with a peak of 5.8%- the highest figures for the series to date. However, ratings dipped to 3.7% for the third episode and hit a low of 3.5% for the fourth.

The tide turned with the sixth episode, aired on July 8, which saw ratings climb back to 4.0% – a 0.3% increase from the previous episode’s 3.7%. In the metropolitan area, ratings peaked at an impressive 5.1%.

The sixth episode left viewers on the edge of their seats with a shocking finale—Bae Gyeon Woo, possessed by the malevolent spirit Bong Su, greets Park Sung Ah with a bone-chilling expression. As the plot thickens midway through the series, all eyes are on Head over Heels to see if it can maintain its upward trajectory after breaking the 4.0% barrier.

The drama is also making waves in terms of buzz. According to Good Data Corporation, a firm specializing in K-content competitiveness analysis, Head over Heels ranked third in the Television-Over-the-Top (TV-OTT) drama buzz category for the first week of July. In the cast popularity rankings, Cho Yi Hyun secured the third spot, while Choo Young Woo came in fifth.

The show’s international appeal is on the rise as well. FlixPatrol, a global OTT ranking site, reported that as of Wednesday, Head over Heels climbed to fourth place in Amazon Prime Video’s global TV show rankings. It has also broken into the top 10 in 35 countries worldwide, including France, Italy, Finland, Brazil, and Mexico.

Head over Heels is a 12-episode series airing every Monday and Tuesday at 8:50 p.m.(KST) on tvN.
