Suzy may be returning to the small screen as a powerful empress.
OSEN reported on May 12th that Suzy is currently considering the lead role in upcoming drama Men of the Harem.
Based on the popular Naver web novel of the same name, Men of the Harem is a romance fantasy set in the Tarium Empire. The story follows Empress Latil, who takes in male consorts to protect her throne.
The original web novel, which ran from March 2020 to June 2023, racked up over 21.4 million downloads and was later adapted into a webtoon. Its massive popularity both in Korea and overseas has fueled excitement for a live-action adaptation.
The drama is already generating buzz thanks to its star creative team: director Lee Eung Bok (Sweet Home 2 and 3, Mr. Sunshine, Guardian: The Lonely and Great God) and screenwriter Hwang Jin Young, known for MBC’s 2023 hit My Dearest.
Now, anticipation is rising even higher with Suzy reportedly in talks to play the empress Latil.
Suzy is already confirmed to star in Netflix’s Genie, Make a Wish (working title), written by Kim Eun Sook and co-starring Kim Woo Bin. She’s also considering a role in Delusion, a fantasy-mystery period drama based on a webtoon.
Men of the Harem will be produced by Studio Dragon, which is currently in the pre-production and casting phase.
