Bill Gates is facing renewed scrutiny over his past connection to Jeffrey Epstein after a report surfaced detailing private messages tied to one of Epstein’s longtime confidants.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Dr. Melanie S. Walker, a physician and former Gates Foundation employee, allegedly shared private details about Gates with Epstein in emails and text messages contained in Justice Department files.
The report claims Walker, who reportedly had a consensual relationship with Gates, described the Microsoft co-founder in unflattering terms while communicating with Epstein.
In one message, Walker allegedly called Gates “very gross” and “not the person ppl think.”
The new details add another uncomfortable layer to Gates’ long-running effort to explain why he associated with Epstein, who died in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal trafficking charges.
Walker Reportedly Discussed Gates With Epstein
Walker joined the Gates Foundation in 2006 and later moved into Gates’ private office in 2017.
According to messages reviewed by The Wall Street Journal, Epstein directly asked Walker in January 2017 whether she and Gates had been intimate.
Walker reportedly replied that they had not had a physical relationship at that point, but said they had “went crazy on the whiteboard” while Gates’ staff waited outside.
She also allegedly wrote that they had “about three minutes at the beginning to take a deep breath and just stand there together.” The meaning of that message remains unclear.
Walker also reportedly told Epstein that Gates complained about being too old, and that she responded by saying he was still “a little too young” for her.
Gates Was Allegedly Called ‘Very Gross’
The most damaging messages came months later.
In a July 2017 email, Walker reportedly described Gates as “very gross” and said he was “not the person ppl think.” She also allegedly called him “a huge distraction” and said she felt “trapped.” At another point, Walker reportedly apologized to Epstein after Gates was allegedly “mean” to him.
The report also claims Walker sought Epstein’s advice before a meeting with Gates and Larry Cohen, the CEO of Gates’ private office. She allegedly asked what she could say to make them take her proposals seriously.
“Are there any signals I can send or words I can use to let him and [Bill Gates] know I’m not messing around?” Walker reportedly asked. Epstein allegedly replied, “With [Bill Gates]. All you would have to say, is you should know that I’ve told Jeffrey everything, everything.”
Walker allegedly responded that she feared Gates would retaliate against her. Epstein then allegedly wrote, “You can always say I also like blue dresses.” After the meeting, Walker reportedly told Epstein she had “‘blue dress’ emails and a few other embarrassing things.”
Melinda Gates Was Also Pulled Into The Messages
The report also claims Walker discussed tension involving Melinda Gates, who divorced Bill Gates in 2021 after 27 years of marriage.
According to messages cited by the outlet, Walker suggested Melinda had grown uncomfortable with her role. “Melinda is acting out against me through [foundation] channels. I need out asap,” Walker allegedly told Epstein.
Melinda has previously criticized Bill’s past meetings with Epstein, calling the association a major issue in their marriage. The new report now places those tensions inside a larger chain of private communications involving Walker, Epstein, and Gates’ inner circle.
Epstein Allegedly Entered Gates’ World Through Walker
The Wall Street Journal reported that Walker played a role in connecting Gates and Epstein.
Walker reportedly wrote in 2018 that she first met Epstein in the 1990s after being introduced by Donald Trump at New York City’s Plaza Hotel. “I’ve known Jeffrey 28 years and this isn’t a joke, Donald Trump introduced us,” she allegedly wrote. Walker later introduced Gates to Epstein in 2011, reportedly describing Epstein as “one of my closest friends.” She also allegedly wrote that “the world’s most gorgeous people hang around Jeffrey” and that he was “very discreet.”
The report says Walker later warned Gates to maintain “a healthy distance” from Epstein in personal matters, saying Epstein preyed on people’s “weaknesses or proclivities.”
Gates Denies Wrongdoing
Gates has repeatedly expressed regret over his association with Epstein and has denied misconduct.
A spokesperson for Gates told The Wall Street Journal that Gates “was not aware of the nature of the relationship between Walker and Epstein, their shared motives, or the details of their history together.”
The spokesperson also said the messages between Epstein and Walker show that Epstein was encouraging Walker to pursue a physical relationship with Gates.
“The relationship between Walker and Gates was consensual and ended amicably,” the spokesperson said, adding that Walker continued to contact Gates periodically for years afterward.
Walker’s attorney, David Fleissig, told the outlet that Walker was “a survivor of Jeffrey Epstein” who endured “a coercive relationship that spanned decades and ended only with his death.”
For Gates, the report brings his Epstein connection back into focus through a more personal and embarrassing set of allegations.
The larger question is not only why Gates met Epstein. It is how much Epstein and those around him allegedly knew about Gates’ private life, and how those details may have been used.
