Sharon Stone has a surprisingly strong opinion about one of television’s most controversial shows.

The ‘Basic Instinct’ star says HBO’s ‘Euphoria’ is not just worth watching. In her view, it should be required viewing for both parents and high school students.

Stone, 68, shared her thoughts during a conversation with Keke Palmer for Variety’s ‘Actors on Actors’ series. The actress recently joined the cast of ‘Euphoria’ for its upcoming final season and made it clear she is a huge fan of the drama.

Sharon Stone Calls ‘Euphoria’ The Best Show On TV

“I think it’s the greatest show on television,” Stone said.

She did not stop there.

“It’s a game-changer,” she added.

The HBO series first premiered in 2019 and follows a group of young people dealing with addiction, relationships, mental health struggles and other challenges. The third season jumps forward several years, showing the characters facing adult consequences for earlier choices.

Stone said that evolution is one reason the show resonates with her.

“We’ve seen these kids transform from teens to young adults to full-blown drug dealers,” she said.

Why The Story Hits Close To Home

Stone revealed that parts of the show feel personal because addiction has affected her own family.

She spoke about her brother Michael Stone’s past involvement in the drug trade, which eventually led to time behind bars at New York’s Attica Correctional Facility.

The actress said she was deeply affected after watching the show’s first episode and praised its willingness to tackle difficult subjects directly.

“Euphoria is incredibly relevant,” Stone said. “It should be shown in every high school, and parents should be required to watch it.”

“As a mom, I absolutely love it,” she added.

Keke Palmer agreed that one of the show’s strengths is its ability to spark conversations.

“What I love is how it sparks conversations,” Palmer said.

Parents May Not Know Everything

Stone believes many parents underestimate what young people are exposed to.

“Parents often say, ‘My kid would never do that,'” she said. “But do they really know?”

She argued that the show encourages families to confront uncomfortable realities instead of avoiding them.

At the same time, the people behind ‘Euphoria’ have consistently stressed that the series is intended for mature audiences.

Creator Sam Levinson previously said the show could encourage meaningful conversations between parents and children, but emphasized it was not created for younger viewers.

Lead actress Zendaya has echoed that message multiple times. The two-time Emmy winner has repeatedly warned fans that the series contains emotionally intense and potentially triggering material.

“It’s crucial to understand that while the show is about teenagers, it’s not necessarily for teenagers,” Zendaya previously said.

Still, Stone believes the show’s value comes from its honesty.

For her, ‘Euphoria’ is more than entertainment. It is a conversation starter about issues many families face, whether they realize it or not.
