Sabrina Carpenter is taking legal action after a frightening series of incidents at her Los Angeles home.
The singer and actress has been granted a temporary restraining order against a 31-year-old man identified as William Applegate, after she alleged that he repeatedly appeared at her property and tried to gain access. The incidents reportedly unfolded over several days and led to multiple police responses.
According to court documents, Carpenter said Applegate is a stranger to her and claimed his behavior left her fearing for her safety.
Carpenter Said The First Incident Was ‘Deliberate’ And ‘Aggressive’
In her signed declaration, Carpenter alleged that Applegate arrived at her home on May 23 without permission.
“It is clear to me that his approach was deliberate, calculated and aggressive, which is deeply alarming,” Carpenter wrote.
She also described the incident as “among the most disturbing violations of personal safety and privacy I have ever experienced.”
According to the filing, Applegate allegedly trespassed onto a neighboring property to get around security fencing protecting Carpenter’s home. She claimed he then approached her front door and grabbed the handle as if trying to force his way inside.
Carpenter included Ring security camera images in the filing, which allegedly show Applegate outside her residence.
Security Reportedly Stepped In Before Police Arrested Him
Carpenter said her private security team confronted Applegate, but he allegedly refused to leave.
“He then fabricated the outrageous and entirely false claim that he personally knew me and that I was expecting him,” Carpenter wrote. “This was a complete lie.”
Police later responded, and Applegate was reportedly arrested that day.
Carpenter said the situation did not end there. According to her filing, Applegate allegedly returned less than 24 hours later and waited outside her home for hours. She claimed he came back again the next day and parked near her gate, leading to another police response. The court documents also included images of his car, according to reports.
Judge Ordered Applegate To Stay Away
Carpenter alleged that a security investigation found Applegate’s behavior may have started as early as April 20, 2026. She described it as a “clear and deeply troubling escalation pattern.”
“His pattern of stalking, trespassing, and surveillance has caused me severe and ongoing emotional distress,” she wrote.
Detective Peter Doomanis of the Los Angeles Police Department also submitted a declaration, stating that Applegate had developed a “disturbing and irrational fixation” on Carpenter.
A judge ordered Applegate to stay at least 100 yards away from Carpenter, her home, car, and workplace. The order also protects her sister Sarah and Sarah’s boyfriend George, who live with her.
A follow-up court hearing is scheduled for June 17. Applegate is also due in criminal court on June 18 in connection with his arrest for criminal trespassing.
For Carpenter, the request is not about celebrity drama. It is about keeping her home, family, and personal space protected.
