Sabrina Carpenter has been granted a temporary restraining order against a man accused of stalking her and trying to enter her Los Angeles home.

According to court documents filed in California, the singer sought emergency protection after a series of alleged incidents near her residence. The order requires the man to stay at least 100 yards away from Carpenter, her home, vehicle, workplace, and members of her household.

The man named in the filing is 31-year-old William Applegate.

Carpenter alleged that Applegate falsely claimed he knew her personally and that she was expecting him. She denied that completely, calling the claim “outrageous and entirely false.”

Sabrina Carpenter Says She Never Knew Him

According to the filing, Applegate allegedly told security personnel that he personally knew Carpenter. Carpenter said that was not true.

Authorities have not publicly identified any prior relationship between the singer and Applegate. Court documents indicate that Carpenter considers him a stranger. The alleged behavior reportedly began in April and escalated in May, leading Carpenter to seek emergency court intervention.

A Los Angeles County court granted the temporary restraining order, with a hearing scheduled for June 17 to determine whether it should be extended.

Alleged Attempt To Enter Her Home

The most serious incident described in the filing allegedly happened on May 23. Carpenter claimed Applegate breached security barriers around her Hollywood Hills property before approaching her front door. Ring camera footage submitted to the court reportedly showed him trying to open the door.

In her declaration, Carpenter described the incident as “one of the most disturbing violations of personal safety and privacy” she had experienced. She also alleged that he physically manipulated the door handle in an attempt to get inside without permission.

Security personnel intervened before anyone entered the home. Police later arrested Applegate on suspicion of trespassing.

Carpenter Says He Returned After Arrest

The alleged encounters did not end there. Court records state that Carpenter claimed Applegate returned to the area near her property after the arrest. That alleged return increased her safety concerns and became part of her request for legal protection.

An LAPD detective cited in the filing reportedly described the behavior as consistent with an escalating fixation seen in some stalking cases.

The temporary restraining order remains in place while the civil case continues. Applegate is also due in court in connection with a misdemeanor trespassing case.

For now, the allegations remain claims in court filings and have not been proven in court. But Carpenter’s filing makes one thing clear: she says the man was not someone she knew, not someone she expected, and not someone she wanted near her home.
