Jennifer Lopez is not sounding sad about single life.

The singer and actress appeared on Wednesday’s episode of ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ while promoting her upcoming Netflix romantic comedy ‘Office Romance’. During the interview, Lopez opened up about her current relationship status and made a blunt admission that instantly pulled attention back to her split from Ben Affleck.

When Jimmy Kimmel asked, “You’re single right now?” Lopez did not hesitate.

“I am!” she said, smiling as the audience cheered.

Then came the sharper line. “I should have done it sooner,” Lopez admitted. “I’ve been doing it all wrong. I’ve been doing it all wrong, trust me.”

Lopez Embraces Single Life After Affleck Divorce

Lopez did not mention Affleck by name during the exchange. Still, the timing made the comment hard to ignore.

The former couple rekindled their romance in 2021, nearly two decades after ending their first engagement. They married in 2022, but the reunion did not last. Lopez filed for divorce on their second wedding anniversary, and the split was finalized in 2025.

Now, she sounds fully committed to enjoying this new chapter. When Kimmel joked that she could become the next star of ‘The Bachelorette’, Lopez shut it down fast. “No,” she said while shaking her head. “Are you crazy? I’m not doing anything to ruin how I feel right now.” Asked how single life feels, Lopez kept it simple. “Fantastic,” she said.

She Is Not Fully Closing The Door On Love

Lopez may be enjoying her independence, but she did not say romance is gone forever. “I’ll find somebody somewhere one day if they’re good enough,” she said.

That line says plenty. Lopez is not presenting herself as bitter or broken after the Affleck split. She is setting a higher bar.

The comments also arrive as she continues a busy career stretch, with ‘Office Romance’ heading to Netflix and her businesses still moving ahead, including JLo Beauty.

Lopez Gets Emotional Over Her Twins

Lopez also spoke about a major family milestone.

Her 18-year-old twins, Max and Emme, whom she shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony, are preparing to graduate high school and head to college. Lopez admitted the transition has been emotional. “Tomorrow one of them graduates,” she told Kimmel. “Don’t talk about it cause we start crying.”

When asked if she would cry at the graduation ceremony, Lopez said, “Yeah. I’ve been crying for two months.” Lopez explained that Max and Emme attended different high schools and will also go to different colleges. Kimmel asked whether separate graduations and school plans had been inconvenient. Lopez said no. “It’s fine,” she said. “I want them to be happy, go where they want to go and do what they want to do.”

Between her career, her children, and her new single life, Lopez seems focused on control again. And if her latest comments are any clue, she is not rushing to give that up.
