Martin Scorsese’s daughter Francesca Scorsese is speaking out after facing a wave of cruel comments following news of her latest TV role.

The 26-year-old actress recently joined the cast of ‘Mr. and Mrs. Smith’ for the show’s second season. But instead of focusing only on the career update, some online users flooded her TikTok comments with attacks about her appearance and her famous family.

Over the weekend, Francesca addressed the backlash directly, saying she had read “some of the worst comments I have ever seen” about herself.

Francesca Scorsese Calls Out Online Hate

Francesca said she has dealt with “hate for years” because people label her a “nepo baby.” As the daughter of legendary director Martin Scorsese, she admitted she understands why people discuss privilege in Hollywood.

“I understand. I know I have doors opened for me,” she said. “I’m still trying to do the work, I’m still going hard and being passionate and creating and doing the work.”

But Francesca said the latest comments crossed a different line because so many focused on her looks. “I think if you go on people’s videos and you seek out negativity, you are a very, very sad person,” she said.

Francesca Responds To Body-Shaming Comments

The actress said trolls had called her “fat,” “ugly,” and compared her to “Miss Piggy.”

“I get it, I’m not the most beautiful girl in the world. I’m not the skinniest girl in the whole world,” she said. “I’m chubby, I know it. But what does it matter?”

Francesca said she had already deleted X because it had become a “cesspool” of hate, and she was upset to see TikTok becoming similarly toxic.

She also warned that online cruelty can have serious consequences. “This is the kind of thing that causes people to lose their lives,” she said, adding that words have power.

Scorsese Says Famous Father Overshadows Her

Francesca also reflected on the pressure of growing up with a famous father.

Martin Scorsese, 83, is one of the most celebrated filmmakers in Hollywood. Francesca said his fame is a “huge figure to live up to” and often “overshadows me as a person.” Still, she said that does not justify people attacking her online. She ended the video by saying she wants TikTok to become a better space again.

Francesca is Martin Scorsese’s daughter with his fifth wife, Helen Morris. Robert De Niro is also her godfather.

For Francesca, the message was simple: criticism of privilege is one thing. Personal attacks about someone’s body and appearance are something else entirely.
