Rob Schneider’s endorsement of Spencer Pratt for Los Angeles mayor did not go over quietly.
The 62-year-old actor and comedian appeared on ‘Saturday in America with Kayleigh McEnany’ on May 16, where he criticized current Los Angeles leadership and backed Pratt’s mayoral campaign.
Schneider, who has become increasingly vocal in conservative politics, took aim at Mayor Karen Bass and her handling of the city. But one line about the Los Angeles wildfires quickly became the center of the backlash.
Rob Schneider Backs Spencer Pratt For LA Mayor
During the Fox News appearance, Schneider praised people speaking out about the mayoral race and threw his support behind Pratt.
“I’m glad to see more people speaking about [the elections], because that’s what it’s going to take,” Schneider told McEnany.
He added that people in Los Angeles had “nothing to lose,” then made the comment that angered viewers.
“Half of your town is already burned down,” he said.
The remark drew immediate criticism online, with some Los Angeles residents accusing Schneider of exaggerating the damage and using wildfire grief for political commentary.
Fox News Viewers Turn On Schneider
After the clip circulated, viewers went after Schneider on social media.
One person called him “completely delusional” and accused MAGA figures of living in a “fantasy world.” Another user said propaganda had “rotted” people’s minds, while someone else wrote that it was sad to see what a “lost cause” Schneider had become.
One critic took aim at his career, writing, “LA isn’t burned down, but Rob Schneider’s career burned down long ago.” Another simply called him a “loser.”
The reaction was harsh, especially because Schneider was speaking on Fox News, where conservative guests are usually received more favorably by the audience.
Spencer Pratt’s LA Mayor Run Splits Hollywood
Schneider’s comments come as Spencer Pratt’s mayoral campaign gains attention ahead of the June 2 primary election.
The former ‘Hills’ star has reportedly moved into second place in the race, trailing Mayor Bass by single digits. Pratt is a registered Republican, but he is running as an independent in the officially nonpartisan election.
His campaign has attracted celebrity attention. Taylor Lautner, Joe Rogan, Elon Musk, Kristin Cavallari, and Paris Hilton have reportedly backed him.
But the campaign has also divided Hollywood.
Pratt’s sister, Stephanie Pratt, publicly urged voters not to support him, calling him unqualified. Bass has also accused him of exploiting wildfire victims’ grief for personal attention.
Schneider clearly sees Pratt as a serious protest candidate. The internet was less forgiving. His Fox News appearance turned into another reminder that even MAGA-friendly platforms do not guarantee a soft landing when the wrong line hits the wrong audience.
