Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet may be going strong, but one famous red carpet tradition reportedly still makes her nervous.
The 28-year-old reality star has allegedly avoided attending the Met Gala with Chalamet because she does not want to test the so-called “Met Gala curse.” The superstition has followed celebrity couples for years, especially after several high-profile romances ended not long after making their Met Gala debut together.
A source claimed Jenner and Chalamet made the choice on purpose.
“Kylie and Timothée intentionally avoided attending the Met Gala together these past few years because they didn’t want to risk the whole ‘Met Gala curse’ thing,” the insider said.
Kylie Jenner Reportedly Feared Met Gala Bad Luck
According to the source, Jenner was especially cautious because of her own past.
“Kylie was especially superstitious about it after going to the Met with Travis [Scott] in 2018 and 2019 before they eventually split,” the insider explained.
Jenner and Scott first started dating in 2017. They welcomed daughter Stormi in early 2018 and son Aire in February 2022. The couple split for good in January 2023.
That was not the only Kardashian-adjacent example.
Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson attended the Met Gala together in 2022. Three months later, they broke up. That timing has only fed the running joke that the Met Gala can be brutal for celebrity couples.
Jenner reportedly did not want that energy anywhere near her relationship with Chalamet.
“She just didn’t want that kind of bad luck attached to their relationship and wasn’t willing to take any chances,” the source said.
Timothée Chalamet Skipped Fashion’s Biggest Night
Chalamet skipped the 2026 Met Gala last week while Jenner walked the carpet solo.
Instead, the actor spent the night at Madison Square Garden watching the New York Knicks face the Philadelphia 76ers. Chalamet, a longtime Knicks fan, shared his courtside view on Instagram. The Knicks also posted footage of him at the game, where he was seen hugging fellow fan Tracy Morgan.
Jenner, meanwhile, made her Met Gala appearance in a heavily embellished Schiaparelli gown. The look featured pearls, a dramatic train, and a sculpted illusion corset effect that instantly drew attention online.
The couple first sparked dating rumors in April 2023, and their romance has continued to pull interest from fans who watch every public move for clues.
The ‘Met Gala Curse’ Has Hit Other Couples
The so-called curse is not limited to the Kardashian-Jenner family.
Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx split in late May 2019, just weeks after appearing together at the Met Gala. Amanda Seyfried and Justin Long made their Met Gala debut in May 2015 and split four months later.
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth also attended the Met Gala together in May 2019, six months after marrying. They announced their separation that August.
So, is the curse real? Probably not. Celebrity relationships fall apart for much bigger reasons than a museum staircase.
Still, Jenner appears to be treating the superstition seriously. And in a relationship watched this closely, skipping one red carpet may be less about fear and more about control.
