Nicole Kidman’s Mother’s Day post was meant to be sweet. Instead, it reopened one of the oldest questions surrounding her family.

The 58-year-old actress shared an Instagram tribute to her daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, whom she shares with ex-husband Keith Urban. Alongside the photo, Kidman wrote, “To my beautiful girls, the greatest joy is being your mother. Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers in the world.”

Fans quickly noticed who was missing from the post: Isabella, 33, and Connor, 31, Kidman’s adopted children with ex-husband Tom Cruise.

Fans Question Nicole Kidman’s Mother’s Day Post

The comments came fast.

“What about the other two?” one person asked.

Others also questioned why Kidman did not mention Isabella and Connor, especially given that she has not been publicly photographed with them in more than 15 years.

The distance between Kidman and her older children has long fueled speculation. Many have pointed to Isabella and Connor’s ties to Scientology, which they followed through Cruise, as a possible reason for the apparent separation.

Still, there have been signs that the relationship may not be as simple as outsiders assume. Isabella recently changed her professional name from Bella Cruise to Bella Kidman Cruise, which some fans saw as a subtle but meaningful nod to her mother.

Insider Claims Kidman Is In A ‘Culling’ Phase

According to an insider, Kidman’s relationship with her eldest children has “shifted” following her divorce from Keith Urban. “Nicole’s going through a rigid ‘culling’ period where she’s moving forward,” the source claimed. The insider added that Kidman’s “trust issues” have allegedly been rattled, and she is only bringing people into her next chapter if they have shown loyalty.

That claim has not been confirmed by Kidman herself. It also does not prove why Isabella and Connor were left out of the Mother’s Day post. But it has added another layer to the public debate over whether the omission was intentional, personal, or simply tied to the specific photo she chose to share.

Kidman Has Defended Her Older Children Before

Kidman has rarely spoken in detail about Isabella and Connor, but when she has, she has usually stressed that she loves them.

In 2018, she addressed their Scientology ties in an interview with Who Magazine.

“They are adults. They are able to make their own decisions,” Kidman said. “They have made choices to be Scientologists and as a mother, it’s my job to love them.”

She also said, “I have to protect all those relationships. I know 150 per cent that I would give up my life for my children because it’s what my purpose is.”

Isabella currently lives in London with her husband, Max Parker, whom she married in 2015. Neither Kidman nor Cruise attended the wedding, though reports claimed Cruise helped pay for the event. Connor lives in Clearwater, Florida, near Scientology’s headquarters and Cruise’s apartment.

Kidman’s Mother’s Day post did not explain anything. It simply gave fans another reason to revisit a complicated family history that has never been fully public.
