Prince William is reportedly taking a much colder view of Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie than royal watchers once expected. The reason for this is pretty simple. In a monarchy already battered by scandal, image is everything, and the York sisters come with baggage he did not create but may no longer want anywhere near the future crown.

That does not mean there is public proof that William is literally evicting them today. But the pressure around their place in royal life has intensified, according to different sources. Reports over the past month have claimed the sisters were frozen out of key family events, including Royal Ascot, even as fresh debate swirls over why two non-working royals still retain homes tied to palace grounds. Those claims have landed at the same time as renewed fallout from Prince Andrew’s collapse and broader questions about who still fits into the monarchy William is expected to shape.

While Prince William may be trying to tighten the royal circle, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are not said to be taking the hint quietly. Behind palace gates, the York sisters are reportedly bracing for a fight over their homes, their titles, and their place inside the monarchy.

And here is the part making royal watchers lean in. Insiders claim Beatrice and Eugenie believe they still hold cards powerful enough to make William think twice before pushing them any further out.

William’s Royal Squeeze Has the York Sisters on Edge

The tension comes after reports that Beatrice, 37, and Eugenie, 35, were blocked from attending Royal Ascot with the rest of the Royal Family, a move many saw as a very public brush-off. There have also been claims that they have been encouraged to quietly ease off using their royal titles, adding to the feeling that the sisters are being edged away from the center.

That pressure has only grown since their father, Prince Andrew, was stripped of his titles last year. Since then, the sisters have kept a lower profile, but talk is building that they could be next in line for a harsher downgrade.

Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond put it bluntly, saying, ‘I don’t think either of them has ever flaunted their titles, but there’s obviously a huge cachet in some circles about being called a Princess.’ She added, ‘A title like that opens doors and sets up connections, which both Beatrice and Eugenie have used to their advantage.’

Even so, palace insiders say the sisters have no intention of going quietly, especially if their homes are dragged into the fight.

Palace Homes Are the Real Flashpoint

As this issue gets bigger, important questions are being raised over why Beatrice and Eugenie, who are not working royals, still have homes tied to palace grounds. Beatrice is believed to have a residence at St James’s Palace, while Eugenie reportedly spends part of her time at Ivy Cottage in Kensington Palace.

Insiders say that issue has become deeply personal. One source claims, ‘They feel strongly that they have a right to hang on to their royal homes and their ties to the family.’ Another adds that the sisters are ‘hugely concerned’ and ready to use ‘all the leverage they have’ to hold their ground.

And what exactly is that leverage? According to the same claims, it includes the threat of lawyers, going public, and even the possibility of a tell-all if William pushes too hard. That is the part likely to make the palace nervous.

Why William May Not Have an Easy Win

The sisters are said to feel they are being punished for their father, Prince Andrew, the Duke of York’s disgrace, despite not being accused of wrongdoing themselves. One insider says, ‘If William backs them into a corner, you better believe they’re going to come out swinging.’

The same source claims Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are ‘pretty disgusted’ by William and feel he is underestimating how tough they can be.

For now, no official decision has been announced. But the mood around this reported family clash is getting darker by the minute. If William is hoping Beatrice and Eugenie will simply fade into the background, palace whispers suggest that may be wishful thinking.
