William Shatner is reassuring fans after suffering an injury in a horse-riding accident.
The 94-year-old Star Trek legend recently underwent shoulder surgery following the incident but said reports about the severity of his injury have been exaggerated.
“So I understand that tabloids say my shoulder was shattered,” Shatner wrote on X on March 12. “Dramatic. Colorful. Completely untrue. It was a routine procedure.”
The actor added that he was already feeling well enough to return to public appearances.
“I’m feeling so good that I’ll be attending a convention in Cleveland tomorrow,” he wrote, joking that tabloids often prefer “catchy headlines over factual reporting.”
Shatner had previously described the accident while attending the 53rd annual Saturn Awards on March 8.
The actor explained that he was riding a horse trained in equine skill competitions, which involve fast movements and sudden sliding stops.
“I ride horses that compete in equine skills,” he said. “Unfortunately, the horse I was riding threw me off.”
According to Shatner, the horse suddenly bolted, causing him to lose control and fall.
He attempted to roll to reduce the impact, but said his shoulder took most of the force when he hit the ground.
“I tried to roll, but I’m not as spry as I once was in my stunt days,” he said. “My shoulder took the brunt of the impact.”
Despite the mishap, Shatner’s quick recovery and upbeat attitude appear to have reassured fans that the veteran actor remains active and in good spirits.
