
Eminem is mourning the loss of longtime friend and collaborator DJ Lord Sear.
The hip-hop icon shared an emotional tribute after news broke that the Shade 45 radio host had died at the age of 52. The announcement was confirmed on March 11 through a joint post shared on Instagram by the Shade 45 account and Lord Sear’s personal page.
The cause of death has not been disclosed.
In his tribute, Eminem posted a clip from one of his past radio interviews with Lord Sear and reflected on the moments they shared together over the years.
“I’ll never forget how he cracked me up during our tour together,” Eminem wrote.
The rapper also recalled their many conversations on Shade 45, the SiriusXM hip-hop channel he co-founded.
“Our sessions on @Shade45 were always among my favorite interviews,” he added.
Eminem ended the message with a heartfelt farewell.
“He made the world a better place, and I’m really going to miss that. Rest in peace, Lil Trey aka @LordSear!!!”
Lord Sear was a well-known voice in hip-hop media and a longtime fixture on Shade 45. Over the years, he built a reputation as a respected radio personality who helped connect artists and fans across the hip-hop community.
In the statement announcing his death, Shade 45 described him as far more than a broadcaster.
“He was more than just a voice on the airwaves — he was a force of nature, a friend, and family to countless individuals,” the post said.
Lord Sear’s career in hip-hop media stretched back decades. He first gained attention working alongside rapper Kurious before joining the influential Stretch and Bobbito radio show.
He later toured internationally as part of Eminem’s Anger Management Tour and spent more than 20 years as a central figure at Shade 45.
Throughout that time, he played a significant role in shaping conversations around hip-hop culture and helping spotlight artists within the industry.
