A California court has terminated Mickey Rourke’s rental agreement after the actor failed to respond in an eviction case tied to nearly $60,000 in unpaid rent.
According to court documents filed Monday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, the 73-year-old Oscar nominee defaulted in the case brought by his landlord, Eric T. Goldie. The ruling means Rourke did not formally respond to the complaint or appear to contest the claims within the time required under California law.
As a result, the court ordered the termination of Rourke’s lease and the forfeiture of his rental agreement.
The dispute centers on a three-bedroom property on Drexel Avenue in Los Angeles. In December 2025, Rourke was served with a three-day notice demanding payment of $59,100 in overdue rent or vacating the home.
The legal drama drew widespread attention earlier this year after Rourke’s manager launched a GoFundMe campaign seeking $100,000 to help cover the alleged debt.
The fundraiser quickly surpassed its goal within 24 hours but was later removed from the platform. Rourke publicly criticized the campaign at the time, calling the effort “humiliating” in a video posted to Instagram.
Manager Kimberly Hines later said the fundraiser was launched with Rourke’s knowledge and insisted the intention was to support the actor during a difficult period.
Hines, who has represented Rourke for nearly a decade, said the situation also generated renewed industry interest in the actor. According to her, Rourke has recently received multiple project offers and is involved in developing a new property tied to a graphic novel project with producer Jay Firestone and Prodigy Pictures.
She also confirmed that Rourke has already moved out of the Drexel Avenue residence, where he had lived since March 2025, and is currently staying at a hotel in West Hollywood.
Despite the housing dispute, Hines said she expects the coming year to bring new opportunities for the actor, describing 2026 as potentially “a banner year” for Rourke.
