Actor and director Timothy Busfield has denied allegations from actor Claudia Christian that he sexually assaulted her during the early 1990s.
According to Busfield’s spokesperson, Larry Stein, the director strongly disputes the claim made by Christian, who appeared with him in the 1991 film Strays. Stein told TMZ that Busfield rejects the accusation and maintains that it is untrue.
The allegation surfaced publicly after Busfield was recently named in a New Mexico arrest warrant tied to separate allegations involving child actors on the set of the television series The Cleaning Lady. Authorities allege that inappropriate conduct involving twin child actors occurred between late 2022 and early 2024.
Stein said the two matters are unrelated. He stated that the current investigation involving alleged conduct with minors has already had a serious impact on Busfield’s reputation and career, but emphasized that the decades-old claim from Christian concerns a different situation involving an adult co-star.

Christian described the alleged incident in interviews reported by The Mirror US. According to transcripts of a police interview cited by the outlet, Christian said the encounter occurred during a line rehearsal in Busfield’s trailer while filming Strays.
Christian alleged that Busfield grabbed her and pushed her against a wall before kissing her. She said she was able to push him away and leave the trailer.
She also told the outlet that she reported the incident to members of the film crew at the time but said no formal action was taken.
Christian said the response reflected what she described as a broader culture at the time in which complaints by young women on film sets were often dismissed or not formally investigated.
Busfield has denied the allegations. In January, he voluntarily surrendered to authorities in connection with the separate child abuse investigation. He has maintained his innocence regarding those accusations as well.
The investigations remain ongoing, and no court ruling has been issued regarding either set of allegations.
