Macaulay Culkin and Brenda Song are giving Home Alone a whole new meaning—by turning it into a real-life parenting lesson.

In a recent interview, Song revealed that she and her fiancé have been watching Culkin’s iconic holiday classic with their two sons, Dakota, 4, and Carson, 3. While the boys are captivated by the slapstick chaos, clever traps, and over-the-top “hijinks,” their parents are using the film as a subtle way to teach them about safety and stranger danger.

Song explained that after watching the movie, she reinforces the difference between on-screen comedy and real-world risks. She uses Kevin McCallister’s accidental abandonment as a springboard to talk about staying close to family and recognizing unfamiliar adults. “If you don’t know someone’s name, they’re a stranger,” she has taught her sons, emphasizing awareness no matter the situation.

The actress also makes safety part of everyday routines. She encourages her children to identify exits when entering buildings and asks them how they would leave if needed. While Culkin reportedly teases that her approach can be a little intense, Song believes a small dose of caution helps children stay alert and prepared.

Ironically, despite repeatedly watching the film, the couple’s sons have not fully realized that their dad played Kevin. Culkin has admitted he plans to keep that illusion alive for as long as possible. For now, the boys simply enjoy the adventure—while their parents quietly transform a classic comedy into a hands-on safety lesson.
