Victoria Jones, the 34-year-old daughter of Oscar-winning actor Tommy Lee Jones, has died after what authorities have ruled an accidental drug overdose.
According to the San Francisco Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, Victoria was found unresponsive inside her room at the Fairmont Hotel in downtown San Francisco in the early hours of New Year’s Day. Emergency responders were called around 2:05 a.m., initially amid concerns that alcohol may have been involved. After a full investigation, officials determined her cause of death was the toxic effects of cocaine.
First responders reportedly observed signs consistent with severe oxygen deprivation when they arrived, a condition often associated with overdose cases. The medical examiner ultimately classified the death as accidental.
Sources familiar with the situation say Victoria had been struggling with substance use in recent months and had faced prior legal issues, including arrests related to cocaine possession and domestic disputes. During a previous stay at the family’s Napa Valley winery, her husband is said to have alerted authorities about concerns surrounding her drug use.
In a brief statement, the Jones family expressed their grief, saying they are “deeply grateful for the outpouring of kind words, thoughts, and prayers,” while asking for privacy during this painful time.
Victoria had dabbled in acting as a child, appearing alongside her father in projects including Men in Black II and The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada.
