Namkoong Min has high praise for his co-star Jeon Yeo Been, calling her sincerity and genuine approach to acting a major influence on his performance in their upcoming drama, Our Movie.

On Monday, SBS CATCH’s YouTube channel released a video titled, “Director Lee Je Ha: Acting Wasn’t Easy… Namkoong Min’s Candid Black-and-White Mood Interview for Our Movie.”

In the video, Namkoong Min opens up about his character and his co-star. When asked about his role as Lee Je Ha in Our Movie, he explained, “Of all the characters I’ve played, Je Ha is by far the most complex. It’s hard to sum him up in one word. He harbors a significant amount of resentment toward his father and has a profound mistrust of love. But when he meets the character Da Eum, I’m curious to see how his emotions will change. Even I don’t know how he’ll evolve until I see it unfold on screen.”

Reflecting on the challenges of playing the role of a movie director, he shared, “The beginning was particularly difficult. Je Ha isn’t the type of character who wears his emotions on his sleeve or speaks much. He’s a man of few words, and conveying such complex emotions with minimal dialogue was a challenge. I had to really internalize his feelings and restrain my emotions as much as possible.”

When talking about his on-screen chemistry with Jeon Yeo Been, who plays Da Eum, Namkoong Min was full of admiration. “Yeo Been is so sincere and has such honesty and purity in her acting. Her passion inspired me, and it pushed me to give even more in my performance. It was such a rewarding experience working with her that I didn’t even have to remind myself to act, it just felt natural.”

Our Movie tells the emotionally charged story of Je Ha, a film director who believes he has no future, and Da Eum, an actress who lives each day as if it’s her last. Their love story unfolds with a sense of urgency that can’t be put off until tomorrow.
