Ji Sung is preparing for a highly anticipated return to MBC dramas after a decade-long break. The award-winning actor has officially signed on to star in the lead role of Judge Lee Han Young, an upcoming Friday-Saturday drama set to premiere this fall.

Judge Lee Han Young is a gripping, justice-driven fantasy series that follows the story of a corrupt judge who, after years of serving as a pawn for a powerful law firm, mysteriously finds himself transported back in time by ten years. With this second chance, he embarks on a mission to right his wrongs and expose the corrupt system. Ji Sung will play the titular role of Lee Han Young, a judge who, in his earlier life, misuses his position for personal gain and accepts bribes.

In a critical turning point, Han Young decides to change his ways, only to unexpectedly find himself back in his early years as a solo judge. As he navigates this new reality and struggles to forge a different path, viewers will be drawn into a compelling and intense narrative. Ji Sung’s portrayal of this complex character has already generated significant buzz, with fans excited to see how his performance will revive interest in the time-travel fantasy genre on television.

This return to MBC has captured considerable attention, especially since it marks Ji Sung’s first MBC project since his award-winning role in Kill Me, Heal Me. In 2015, Ji Sung won the MBC Acting Award for his outstanding performance in this groundbreaking series, which made him a household name in Korea and further solidified his international star power

Throughout his career, Ji Sung has consistently showcased his remarkable versatility. He has tackled a wide range of roles across various genres, including courtroom dramas, crime thrillers, historical epics, romantic comedies, and melodramas. His ability to fully immerse himself in each character has earned him a reputation as a trusted and reliable actor who consistently captivates audiences.

Ji Sung’s star power was further cemented last year with the hit drama Connection, which achieved a peak viewership rating of 14.2%. In Connection, he played a top narcotics detective who is forced into a downward spiral of addiction, a role that demanded a high level of emotional depth and nuance. His performance garnered widespread acclaim, with many praising his ability to bring such a challenging character to life.

Thanks to Ji Sung’s brilliant performance, Connection dominated the TV-OTT drama buzz rankings, with Ji Sung himself ranking high in popularity polls among cast members.

Judge Lee Han Young, which features a star-studded cast including Ji Sung, Park Hee Soon, and Won Jin Ah, has already begun production and is slated to air this fall.

On a personal note, Ji Sung has been happily married to fellow actress Lee Bo Young since 2013. The couple is proud parents to two children, a son and a daughter.
