According to a report from BizEnter on Monday, Kyulkyung, formerly of the iconic project girl group I.O.I, has confirmed her participation in the group’s upcoming 10th anniversary reunion, set to take place next year.
Kyulkyung, who has mainly built her career in China over the past several years, is expected to make a highly anticipated return to the South Korean entertainment scene with this reunion, marking her first activities in Korea in nearly six years.
Kyulkyung first rose to fame in 2016 as a contestant on Mnet’s reality competition Produce 101, where she finished in 6th place and secured her spot in the temporary girl group I.O.I. The group included 11 members: Jeon Somi, Kim Sejeong, Choi Yoojung, Kim Chungha, Kim Sohye, Jung Chaeyeon, Kim Doyeon, Kang Mina, Lim Nayoung, Yoo Yeonjung, and Kyulkyung herself.

Though I.O.I was only active for a short time, they made a significant impact on K-pop with hit songs like “Pick Me,” “Whatta Man,” “Dream Girls,” and “Very Very Very,” earning widespread popularity and a dedicated fan base.
After I.O.I disbanded, Kyulkyung debuted again in 2017 as part of the girl group Pristin. When Pristin disbanded, she made headlines in 2019 by unilaterally ending her contract with Pledis Entertainment to focus on her career in China.
Since then, the members of I.O.I have pursued various paths in the entertainment industry. Jeon Somi and Kim Chungha have found success as solo artists, while Kim Doyeon, Jung Chaeyeon, Kim Sejeong, Kang Mina, Lim Nayoung, and Kim Sohye have transitioned into acting. Meanwhile, Choi Yoojung and Yoo Yeonjung have made their mark in musical theater.
Having expressed their desire to reunite several times, fans are eagerly awaiting to see if I.O.I will come together to celebrate their milestone anniversary with something special.
