Late Actress Kim Sae Ron’s Final Film ‘Guitar Man’ Gets May Premiere Date

Guitar Man, the final film starring the late Kim Sae Ron, has secured its theatrical release date.

Production company Sungwon Pharmaceutical announced that Guitar Man will premiere on May 30th, with a press screening and audience Q&A session scheduled for May 21st.

The film follows the love, loss, and journey of Ki Cheol, a genius guitarist seeking hope through music and relationships despite harsh realities. Kim Sae Ron portrays Yoo Jin, a keyboardist who joins Ki Cheol after he becomes the guitarist for the band Volcano.

A music video for the film’s OST “The World Without Pain” featuring Kim Sae Ron was released on April 28th. Director and actor Lee Sun Jung shared, “Kim Sae Ron showed such bright energy and overflowing passion on set that I had hoped for her wonderful comeback. But now, as the OST title suggests, I just hope she’s happy in a world without pain.” He also announced that “all proceeds from the ‘Guitar Man’ OST will be donated to the Korea Foundation for Suicide Prevention.”

Kim Sae Ron completed filming for Guitar Man in November of last year but tragically passed away in February 2025.
